There is a great message in YP’s Manifesto video that I would like to share:

“Every day, you open your doors for business… Businesses big and small…You are the local heroes that make our cities and neighborhoods come to life. You define hard work, long hours and the American dream… You are who we work for… Why we work so hard… Why YP exists. And because of what you do, our jobs, our company and our brand have meaning.”

This sentiment is only one of many reasons why I’m proud to announce that YP has joined forces with National Small Business Week (May 1-7) as a sponsor once again this year.

For more than 50 years, our nation has set aside one week per year to celebrate the 28 million small businesses that truly represent America’s unique drive and ingenuity. More than half of the U.S. population either owns or works for a small business. As a sponsor of National Small Business Week, YP is proud to pay tribute to that entrepreneurial spirit, to the men and women behind it, to the businesses they fuel, to the jobs they create, and to the innovation they inspire.

Connecting local businesses with consumers involves so much more than offering marketing solutions. It’s about empowering local communities and the people within them with the essential knowledge, insights, and tools to break through the challenges they face every day. And at YP, we’re committed to ensuring that local businesses have access to everything they need to navigate today’s digital marketplace.

That’s why we decided to launch the Local Breakthrough Summit – an eight-city tour providing small business owners with insights and tips on how to take their businesses to the next level. We also recently announced the integration of Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditations, ratings, and reviews to 1.3 million business listings on YP, bringing added assurance to consumers seeking to do business with trusted local establishments.

And finally, during National Small Business Week, we’ll host a webinar called, Cloud, Mobile and Social: Great Apps and Services that Will Grow Your Business in 2016,” where small business experts Gene Marks, Ramon Ray and YP’s own Jeff Biesman will offer useful advice on how to leverage cloud, mobile, and social technologies to power their businesses.
