Last week, the team at YP’s tech headquarters was excited to be a part of Glendale Tech Week – and as a major force behind the City’s efforts to grow its already burgeoning tech industry, it was a no-brainer for us to be a part of this exciting event. We hosted one event on-site – where nearly 1,000 product developers, engineers, and technical leads call their “home” – and also participated in a “Business Disruptor” panel discussion nearby.

The four-day event was sponsored by the Glendale Economic Development Corporation and supported by a handful of other City organizations. YP℠ team members had the opportunity to mix and mingle with employees from other local tech companies and start-ups over a series of  presentations and networking events held in and around the downtown Glendale area.

Michael Rubin, YP’s Executive Director of Business Development, represented YP at the “Business Disruptors” panel discussion at the historic Alex Theater. The conversation took a closer look at how area businesses are rapidly developing new tools and strategies to “disrupt” their respective fields. Susan Petoyan, CEO of Imagine If Insights, moderated the panel. Other panelists included The Age of Learning,  the US Small Business Administration, and UberMedia.

Michael put a spotlight on YP’s business transformation, discussing how the company has evolved from its roots as a print media mainstay to a fast-growing digital media powerhouse. He also discussed how YP has always stayed true to its mission of helping local businesses thrive and grow via our industry-leading marketing solutions products and services.

Then it was time to welcome nearly 100 attendees to our offices to hear a presentation entitled, “Building Mobile Apps and Web Experiences for Consumer Audiences,” headlined by Stu MacFarlane, EVP of Consumer Products, and Damon Cleckler, VP of Product Management. It was a perfect opportunity to share best practices for building engaging websites and mobile apps that appeal to large consumer audiences.

All in all, it goes without saying that Glendale Tech Week was a huge success. We definitely look forward to being involved again next year.
